CATSKILL – The Albany Stratton Veterans Affairs Medical Center has launched a remote food pantry in its community-based outpatient clinic.
The Catskill Community Based Outpatient Clinic, in partnership with the Regional Food Bank, is opening the on-site food pantry to address food insecurity among veterans in the Columbia-Greene region.
The pantry, the second of its kind in the state, is an initiative led by the Center for Development and Civic Engagement developed to ensure local veterans have reliable access to nutritious foods as well as medical care.
“Food insecurity among veterans emerged nationally, as a critical unmet need, prompting swift local action by our Center for Development and Civic Engagement team in partnership with the Regional Food Bank, to create a sustainable support system for local veterans,” said Darlene DeLancey, executive director of Albany Stratton VA Medical Center.
The Albany Stratton VA provides healthcare services at 112 locations across the state.
