GOSHEN – Over 20 Orange County employees who attended the September 9 county emergency operations center exercise may have suffered from a possible foodborne outbreak.

Catered food was made available for those who attended, many of whom because ill with symptoms similar to those from food poisoning, including violent vomiting attacks that lasted for hours.

A memo to people who registered for the event from Jackie Lawler, director of Epidemiology and Public Health Planning in the County Department of Health, obtained by Mid-Hudson News, said the county is actively investigating the incident and requesting that those who became ill submit a stool of vomitus sample for testing. “This will help us identify the potential virus, bacteria, or toxin that is making people sick,” Lawler wrote.
