New York — OpenAI is pushing deeper into the financial sector with a new ChatGPT product built specifically for investment bankers and equity researchers.

The company launched ChatGPT for Financial Services on Thursday, pairing its newest AI model with information from financial data providers including LSEG, PitchBook and Daloopa.

Morgan Stanley and Evercore worked with OpenAI as design partners during the product’s development, helping tailor the service to the requirements of financial professionals.

The platform is intended to support tasks commonly performed in investment banking and equity research. Professionals can research information across multiple sources, build financial models and prepare client-facing materials, including pitchbooks based on their firms’ existing templates.

OpenAI said the service runs on GPT-6 Astra, which it called its newest model. According to the company, the model was developed to strengthen retrieval from financial databases, improve financial reasoning and increase the accuracy of generated content.

Security and compliance are key elements of the offering. The product uses controls already available through ChatGPT Enterprise, including encryption and role-based access. Compliance teams can also export workspace logs into audit workflows, providing a way for financial institutions to incorporate the system into regulatory oversight processes.

The platform brings together datasets from Daloopa, LSEG News, PitchBook, Crunchbase and Quartr, with coverage including earnings transcripts, financial statements and company fundamentals. OpenAI said the data is indexed on its own infrastructure to enhance retrieval and citation.

Firms that already subscribe to certain financial data platforms can connect those existing subscriptions through integrations with FactSet, S&P Global, Preqin and Datasite.

OpenAI said it plans to broaden the financial information available through the service. The company also expects to expand the product beyond investment banking and equity research into other parts of the financial services industry.

The launch comes as AI companies increasingly develop specialized offerings for highly regulated sectors. Financial institutions have shown growing interest in AI, while concerns around data security, compliance and the ability to trace information remain significant.

For investment banks and research firms, OpenAI is positioning the product as a way to bring external financial information into existing internal workflows while retaining enterprise-level controls.

The move places OpenAI’s technology directly into a market where research, financial modeling and preparation of client documents are central to everyday professional operations.
