FITCHBURG — The Finnish Center at Saima Park will offer three levels of Finnish language classes beginning Monday, Sept. 14.
Finland native Saija Laurla will instruct all three classes, which promise to be lively and fun. In addition to teaching pronunciation and the fundamentals of the challenging Finnish language, Laurla incorporates lessons about Finnish culture into her classes.
The 10-week course will be held on consecutive Mondays, with classes offered at three levels. The advanced class will meet from 3:15 to 4:45 p.m., followed by the intermediate class from 5 to 6:30 p.m. The beginner class will meet from 6:45 to 8:15 p.m.
And because Finns love their kahvi, or coffee, coffee and treats will be served between classes.
Tuition for the 10-week course is $75 for Finnish Center at Saima Park members and $80 for nonmembers. Students under 18 pay half tuition.
To register, contact the Finnish Center at [email protected] or 978-407-9690.
Those interested in becoming a Finnish Center at Saima Park member can join for annual dues of $30 for individuals age 18 and older. Membership applications are available through the center’s website.
