KINGSTON – A hamlet of Ulster Park man is in the Ulster County Jail charged with murder in connection with the shooting death of a woman Tuesday night.
Ulster County Sheriff’s investigators and State Police found Brianna Wittl, 33, also of Ulster Park, found in a residence on Roue 213 in the Town of Esopus at 11:30 p.m. suffering from a gunshot wound.
She was rushed to HealthAlliance Hospital in Kingston where she later died from her injuries.
Authorities said the preliminary investigation revealed that a verbal dispute occurred between Wittl and William Dearden, 47, also of Ulster Park during which he shot her with a handgun resulting in her death.
He was charged with murder and criminal possession of a weapon and remanded to jail without bail.
The investigation is continuing.
Authorities did not say what, if any, relationship the two may have had.
Several area law enforcement and medical agencies assisted at the scene of the murder.
