Decorating hats at the Ashby Senior Center

ASHBY — Seven women and a couple of youngsters participated in a craft workshop on Aug. 26 at the senior center.

Under the direction of artist and instructor Kate Heinze of The Painted Goat in Ashburnham, the group decorated and burned designs onto cowgirl and baseball hats “and went home smiling with their treasure,” said Friends of the Ashby Seniors event coordinator Susan Clement.

The town resident has been volunteering with the Ashby Council on Aging for many years and raises money to help fund outings and similar programs. Upcoming events at the Ashby Senior Center include a mystery dinner theatre on Oct. 24 and Christmas Fair Nov. 21.
