Over the last two seasons, the Florida Gators have been a number one seed in the NCAA Tournament. Florida under head coach Todd Golden has had a lot of success already. As the 2026-2027 college basketball season approaches, the Gators could very well be the number one ranked team in the nation because of how much star power that they return.

After next season, there is a chance that Golden is going to have to replace players like Thomas Haugh, Alex Condon, Rueben Chinyelu, and maybe Boogie Fland. He is looking toward the future at possible high school talent.

Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports made a major report on Tuesday morning on his Twitter page about the latest update with Florida’s basketball program. Rothstein said,

“Sources: A pair of five-star prospects — Beckham Black (2027) and Colton Hiller (2028) — will both officially visit Florida this weekend. A significant couple of days in Gainesville for the Gators, who have been a number 1 seed in each of the past two NCAA Tournaments.”

It is amazing to see that two amazing recruits will be visiting Golden in Gainesville, Florida. The Gators basketball program has been so successful for the last two seasons that Golden is going to be attracting top college recruits. This is going to be good for Florida’s program in the long haul if this becomes a trend.

Beckham Black is a five-star recruit, and he is the number one prospect on ESPN.com for the class of 2027. He is 6’3″ and weighs 180 lbs. Black is front Duncanville, Texas, and he currently attends Southeastern Prep Academy. Black is a point guard. If Florida were to land the top recruit in the class of 2027, he would be the best point guard in the program since Walter Clayton Jr. led them to a national title in 2025 against the Houston Cougars. Beckham is the younger brother of Orlando Magic guard Anthony Black.

As for small forward Colton Hiller, he is the number two recruit in the Top 60 on ESPN.com for the class of 2028. He is from Coatesville, PA and attends Coatesville High School. Hiller is 6’6″ and weighs 170 lbs. His brother Maxwell Hiller, is the number two offensive tackle recruit for the Class of 2027 and he also committed to Florida.

There is a good chance that Golden will land Hiller because his brother is also attending the school in the future. It would be Golden for him to land both Hiller and Black. If this is the case, there are potential Final Fours and National Championships waiting to happen for this program and another could happen even before they touch campus here.
