AYER — Like a lot of parents, Rebecca Owens is getting up a lot earlier these days with school back in session.
That paid off in a big way the morning of Thursday, Aug. 27, when she captured a photo of the stunning sunrise at Sandy Pond Beach in Ayer.
“Back to school means my mornings start a little earlier, but I don’t mind too much because I’ve found a way to make the early mornings worth it,” the Shirley resident said when sharing the picture on social media.
Her two kids – a son who is going to be 14 soon and a daughter who recently turned 11 – attend Ayer Shirley Regional Middle School. Owens launched her business Remember Me Photography around seven years ago and said her journey as a photographer is “one built on time, patience, and a deep love for capturing moments that make people stop and feel something.”
“At the time, I thought it meant wanting my name and my images to be remembered,” she said. “Over the years, I’ve realized it means something much deeper—it’s about remembering the moments themselves. The fleeting ones. The quiet in-between moments that pass so quickly in a hectic life.”
Most mornings Owens sets her alarm about an hour earlier than she needs to get up “to check the sky.”
“If I see that familiar hint of color beginning to appear, I’m up and heading to Sandy Pond,” she shared in her post. “Yesterday morning, I had a feeling… and I was right. Sometimes the best moments are waiting for you before the rest of the world is even awake.”
