John Covell

PATTERSON – John “Snooky” Covell has answered his last alarm.

The 79-year-old life member of the Patterson Fire Department will be laid to rest today at the Maple Avenue Cemetery in Patterson following a funeral service at the Dwyer Funeral Home.

Covell, a life member of the Patterson FD who during his 61 years of service was chief, vice president and captain, was remembered Monday by his daughter Lori of Pawling as a “true sentimentalist who treasured the people, memories and traditions that meant the most to him.”

Patterson Fire Chief Joe Pignatelli said “Snooky was honored as a life member in recognition of his longstanding dedication and commitment to our department and his community. His decades of service leave behind a lasting legacy.”

Putnam Commissioner of Emergency Services James Oster added, “Rest in peace chief. Thanks for a lifetime of service.”
