FITCHBURG — A candidate for the U.S. Senate, Congressman Seth Moulton was in the Twin Cities on Wednesday touring newly redeveloped downtown housing in Fitchburg and the Veteran Pathways of New England Journey Home Campus in Leominster.
The 47-year-old Democrat, who has been the U.S. representative for the state’s 6th congressional district since 2015, was joined by State Sen. John Cronin for the Aug. 26 visit. According to a press release the stops were part of a broader campaign swing across the Commonwealth, with Moulton maintaining a persistent pace as he visits nearly every corner of Massachusetts ahead of the Sept. 1st primary election.
“With early voting already underway and the primary entering its final stretch, Moulton is continuing to show up across Massachusetts,” his campaign spokesperson Taylor Hebble said. “From crowded town halls and energetic rallies to informative community visits, he is taking his message of next-generation leadership directly to the people.”
Cronin and Moulton toured redevelopments in downtown Fitchburg, where many underused properties are being converted into housing within walking distance of public transit. In a release, Moulton points to the projects as a real-world example of one pillar of his progressive affordability agenda — expanding housing near public transit to lower living costs, expanding job access, and increased connectivity.
“These developments are exactly what we need more of across Massachusetts,” Moulton stated. “We are facing a serious housing crisis and projects like the redevelopment at 533 Main Street prove what’s possible when we reject old ways of doing things and challenge an established leadership in Washington that has allowed these problems to grow worse for fifty years.”

He then traveled to Leominster to meet with staff and residents at the Veteran Pathways of New England Journey Home Campus, a recently opened facility on Church Street offering emergency housing and support services to veterans transitioning back to civilian life.
“As an Iraq veteran who has seen the challenges servicemembers face, organizations like The Veterans Pathway and the Journey Home Campus are essential,” Moulton said. “Supporting our veterans doesn’t stop when their deployment ends. Facilities like this provide the resources, community, and security our servicemembers deserve.”
After Moulton announced his plans last October to challenge U.S.Sen. Ed Markey, a slew of candidates quickly jumped into the race to fill Moulton’s State House seat. The senate candidate also stopped in Worcester on Wednesday and his Twin Cities visit comes just one week after Moulton hosted a veterans roundtable alongside New Jersey Governor Mikie Sherrill to discuss servicemember mental health and military family advocacy.
Sherrill, who recently endorsed Moulton, joined him in Massachusetts to emphasize how critical community programs such as The Veterans Pathway are to helping veterans adapt and thrive post-service.
