Stages: M2 and Hanover have fall offerings ready for registration

Labor Day is approaching fast – and that means it’s time to put away the beach stuff and get ready for fall.    And if that means learning something new, Stages has some suggestions.

Merrimack Repertory Theatre and Middlesex Community College launch M2 Performing Arts Academy, a brand-new program for young performers beginning this September.

M2 gives young people the opportunity to build performance skills, grow confidence, and develop communication and collaboration skills through weekly classes led by experienced teaching artists.

With classes offered throughout the fall and spring, there’s something for everyone from Improv and Musical Theatre to Disney Musicals and more.  Programs are designed for students ages 4 through grade 8.

And the fun doesn’t stop in the classroom.  Each session will culminate in a showcase for families, giving students the chance to share what they’ve learned and celebrate their growth.

Registration is open now at Worcester’s Hanover Theatre and Conservatory for all manner of classes for kids and adults.  There are classes in acting and theatre, ballet and commercial dance, technical and design theatre, music and more. SAVE THE DATE –  Lyrically  Speaking, a night of cabaret style music, comes to Warp and Weft, 197 Market Street in Lowell on Thursday, September 24 at 7 pm.    Jerry Bisantz, Nadi Robertson Gemma, and Matthew Descoteaux have a great set of music picked out.    More to come later closer to the event but save the date as cabaret returns to downtown Lowell.

JERRY FINNEGAN’S SISTER – Here’s another  Save the Date notice, this time for some time in October.    Lowell born playwright/actor/director Jack Neary’s early play Jerry Finnegan’s Sister is being produced by Acting Out Productions in Newburyport at the Firehouse Center.    More on this closer to the production.
