Townsend Military Band to perform Aug. 27 on Townsend Common

TOWNSEND — The Townsend Military Band, under the direction of Conductor Tom Sousa, will perform a concert from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 27, on the Townsend Common, weather permitting. The band had planned to conclude its 2026 season Aug. 20, but the concert was postponed because of predicted rain.

Area residents of all ages are invited to bring lawn chairs and blankets to the Common to enjoy an evening of music and the company of friends and neighbors.

No local organization has arranged a lawn party for the Aug. 27 concert, so attendees may want to bring their own food.

Local organizations interested in hosting a bake sale on the Common during the concert should contact Band Concert Coordinator Betty Mae Tenney at [email protected] or 978-597-6495 as soon as possible.
