NEW YORK – A former New York City Police sergeant from Warwick, who was driving the wrong way drunk on the Taconic State Parkway, crashing into another vehicle, pled guilty Wednesday to aggravated vehicular homicide and manslaughter in the death of the other driver.

Attorney General Letitia James said Tiffany Howell, 48, was driving south in the northbound lanes of the parkway at about 11:40 p.m. on January 22, when she rammed into a vehicle traveling in the right direction, killing the driver, Manuel Boitel.

In October, Howell is expected to be sentenced in connection with the Westchester County crash to four to 12 years in state prison.

Authorities said Howell was driving 50 mph with a blood alcohol content of 0.18.

She remains in the Westchester County Jail in lieu of $100,000 cash bail, $250,000 bond, or $500,000 partially secured bond.
