The search for a 58-year-old woman continued into its second day Wednesday, after her husband, a Worcester police officer, was found deceased at her residence early Tuesday.
Karen Solomon, 58, remained missing and presumed armed and dangerous as of Wednesday afternoon, Worcester Police stated.
“Please see the updated video and photo of Karen Solomon,” Worcester Police Department posted Wednesday. “The Worcester Police Department is still actively searching for her and continues to believe she is armed. We ask the public to remain vigilant and if you see her or can provide any information, please contact the Worcester Police Department.”
Video of the suspect posted shows the woman walking in light colored t-shirt and shorts and open-toed shoes, with her hair in a low ponytail. Solomon has been described as a “white female with dark brown hair and brown eyes.”
The department encouraged anyone with information to call the dispatch line at 508-799-8606, detective bureau at 508-799-8651, or provide an anonymous tip by texting TIPWPD and your message to 274637.
The manhunt began after police were called to Solomon’s residence at Wildwood Ave. around 5:28 a.m. Tuesday, Police Chief Paul Saucier stated during a press conference. Upon arrival, officers found a “deceased male, later determined to be an off-duty police officer for Worcester PD.”
Worcester Councilor At-Large Khrystian King identified the victim as Solomon’s husband Kurt Solomon in a statement Wednesday.
“My deepest condolences and prayers are with the Solomon family as they endure the heartbreaking and tragic loss of Kurt Solomon,” King said. “May he rest in peace, and may his family, friends, colleagues in law enforcement, and the entire Worcester community be given the space and support needed to grieve.”
King asked the community to respond with “unity, sensitivity, and care while offering one another comfort and understanding,” adding he prays “that his wife, whom authorities are reportedly seeking, is located safely and swiftly in the interest of the family and everyone affected by this tragedy.”
Worcester County DA Joseph Early Jr. said Tuesday several agencies including the local police, Customs and Border Patrol, Mass State Police, Homeland Security Investigation Office and the U.S. Marshal’s Office were assisting in the search with resources including helicopters, K-9s, and more.

The DA identified Solomon as a “suspect” and cited a potential “domestic violence” incident, adding there were “other people involved in the house as well.”
Solomon co-founded Blue H.E.L.P., a non-profit with the stated mission of “honoring the service of law enforcement officers who died by suicide;” wrote two books related to law enforcement issues; and served in organizations including the Data and Research Committee of the National Consortium on Law Enforcement Suicide Prevention and the FBI’s Law Enforcement Suicide Data Collection Act task force, according to her organization’s website.
