POUGHKEEPSIE – Vincent Parise joined the Poughkeepsie City Fire Department just four days after September 11, 2001.
Having risen through the ranks during his 25 years of service, he was sworn in as chief this week at a City Hall ceremony.
Appointed chief by Mayor Yvonne Flowers, he was sworn in by City Chamberlain Jamar Cummings.
Born and raised in Poughkeepsie, he attended Poughkeepsie High School, and throughout his career of public service, he has dedicated his life to protecting the community.
Parise’s career brought him to the position of deputy chief under Chief Joe Franco and most recently as acting chief last year.
