KINGSTON – The Law Enforcement and Public Safety Committee of the Ulster County Legislature has approved a resolution to develop standards for the training and implementation of a lethality assessment program in cases of domestic violence.
One of the backers of the legislation, Dominic Marino, said it may be contingent on what the state does.
“The New York State Legislature has already passed legislation requiring lethality assessments and while we wait for the governor’s approval, the resolution allows Ulster County to begin planning, training and building the partnerships necessary for successful implementation,” he said.
The full county legislature will vote on this resolution at its month session tomorrow (Tuesday) evening.
