TOWNSEND — Weather permitting, the Townsend Military Band will present its final concert of the 2026 season on the Townsend Common on Thursday evening, Aug. 20.
Area residents of all ages are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets to the Common to enjoy an evening of music and the company of friends and neighbors.
No local organization has made arrangements to host a lawn party in conjunction with the Aug. 20 concert, so attendees may want to bring their own food. Any local organization interested in hosting a lawn party or bake sale on the Townsend Common during the concert should contact Band Concert Coordinator Betty Mae Tenney at [email protected] or 978-597-6495 as soon as possible.
Under the direction of Conductor Tom Sousa, the Townsend Military Band will begin its 7:30 p.m. concert with a varied program of marches, classical selections and popular music. The concert will conclude at 9:30 p.m. with “The Star-Spangled Banner.”
