STERLING — Many community members gathered on the town common Aug. 9 to dedicate a peace pole that was brought to Sterling through a partnership with the Common Good Alliance of Central Massachusetts and Wachusett Area Rotary Club. The words “May Peace Prevail on Earth” in several different languages are featured on the pole including English, Hebrew and Portuguese, which were spoken by various people at the event that coincided with the 81st anniversary of the U.S. atomic bombing of Nagasaki, Japan.
