BREWSTER – What began as an early morning 9-1-1 call reporting a large fight following the assault of an employee turned into a massive police response resulting in the arrests of seven individuals on a variety of charges.

Sheriff Brian Hess reported Tuesday that the incident occurred early Monday, when deputies from his department, State Police, Brewster Village Police, and Carmel Police were called to La Cantina Loca Restaurant on East Main Street in Brewster.

The sheriff said an investigation resulted in the arrest of Erik Felipe Romero, 29, and Elsa Sisimit, 37, both of Carmel on charges of assault, resisting arrest, and obstructing governmental administration.

Both were taken to the sheriff’s office for processing and were released.

Soon afterward, police were called back to La Cantina for another reported fight in the parking lot.

Hess said police arrested Alberto Velasquez Perez, 26, of Brewster, Elebis Bone Rangel, 42, and Washington Banchon Alvarado, 23, both of Danbury, and Jonathan Godoy Morocho, 33, of Nelsonville, on charges of disorderly conduct.

While at the scene, police were alerted that a bar patron leaving the establishment had backed a motor vehicle into a female pedestrian walking through the parking lot, resulting in injury.

Edwin Perez Ramirez, 32, of Pawling was arrested for driving while intoxicated, aggravated driving while intoxicated, and possession of an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle.

Those arrested were processed on the charges and later released pending hearings in Brewster Village Court.
