LEOMINSTER — Project Apples/Leominster CFCE and the Leominster Public Library Dr. Martin T. Feldman Children’s Room staff are pleased to welcome kids and their caregivers to a special performance of “The First Day” on Tuesday, Aug. 11 at 6 p.m. at the library on West Street.
The original play written and performed by the Leominster High School Theatre Company students under the direction of Andrea Mastroianni is about the first day of kindergarten for the characters Jenny and Rebecca. The community is invited to come and find out about their first day adventures and after the short performance, there will be an opportunity to ask questions of the cast.

Children will then be invited to different activity stations where they can practice their kindergarten readiness skills, such as tying a shoe, packing their own backpacks, and developing fine motor skills.
There is also a story walk on the library grounds featuring the book “Pete the Cat Rocking in My School Shoes” by Eric Litwin. Families can enjoy the story walk, which runs through Aug. 21, and each child entering kindergarten will be given a copy of the book when they go to the children’s room desk on the first floor.
