The New England Patriots finished with a 14-3 record last season. The offense did just enough to get to the Super Bowl, but the offensive line was demolished in Super Bowl LX against the Seattle Seahawks. One of the key parts of New England’s offense last season was tight end Hunter Henry.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported on Twitter on Monday, “Sources: The #Patriots have agreed to terms with their standout TE Hunter Henry on a 2-year contract extension, making it likely that he finishes his career with the Pats. The 31-year-old, a key weapon for Drake Maye, had one year remaining on his contract. Now, locked in.” Henry last season caught 60 passes for 768 yards receiving and seven touchdowns, along with averaging 12.8 yards per reception. He was also targeted 87 times.

There are some NFL fans who are surprised about the Henry extension on Twitter. This is what some of them had to say about this on Twitter:
Great news to wake up to.
Hunter Henry has been the most reliable target for Drake Maye in his first two seasons.
Let’s go Pats!#NEPATS

Good deal. He’s been pretty steady throughout his career and is coming off arguably his best season yet.

Excellent news for Hunter Henry and the Patriots. He’s a solid option for Drake Maye and a solid veteran presence in the locker room.

Chargers should have re-signed Hunter Henry 5 years ago. Jared Cook, Gerald Everett, Tre’ McKitty, Stone Smartt, Hayden Hurst, Tyler Conklin, and Will Dissly were not the answer..

A “standout tight end” would’ve had more than 770 yards in a season.
Hunter Henry is more an “unremarkable tight end”

Henry is 31 years old. With him being under contract now for three more seasons, the offense should be fine. New England added wide receivers A.J. Brown and Romeo Doubs in the off-season. The Patriots should have Henry as the third option in the passing game for quarterback Drake Maye. This season is a tougher schedule for head coach Mike Vrabel and company. The season begins in less than a month when they face the Seahawks on the road in Seattle, Washington in a Super Bowl rematch.
