CARMEL – Putnam County has begun collecting feedback on its Climate Change Adaptation and Resilience Plan.

The county’s Climate Smart Coordinator Ilona Campo said the plan includes information about Putnam’s socioeconomic characteristics, ecosystems and experiences of severe weather events; an assessment of risks to key assets and services because of long-term changes in climate and weather patterns; a vision statement; and recommended strategies and actions for addressing vulnerabilities.

Campo has asked residents, businesses, community organizations, and those employed in Putnam’s six towns and three villages to review the document which can be found online at

Comments may also be sent by email to or by mail to the Putnam County Planning Department, 841 Fair Street, Carmel, NY 10512.

Comments must be received by September 15, Campo said.
