The Massachusetts 4-H Foundation recently awarded the RC Carrot Crusaders Club of Pepperell a Building Opportunity and Organizational Strength Together grant of $1,000 for materials for a community service project, to create comfort kits for children in foster care. The foundation also awarded the Freedom Dance 4-H Club of Tyngsboro a $1,000 BOOST grant for tumbling mats to support the club’s ability to hold performances.
The BOOST grant program enables Massachusetts 4-H clubs, advisories and fairs to build capacity and grow their organizations.
“Our 4-H members are excited to use this grant to create comfort kits for children entering foster care,” said Deanna Bourbeau, leader of the RC Carrot Crusaders 4-H Club. “This project gives youth the opportunity to lead, serve, and show compassion while providing children with items that offer comfort, stability, and hope. We are grateful for the opportunity to make a positive impact on both the young people in our club and the children we serve,”
“The BOOST Grant Program reflects the Foundation’s deep commitment to strengthening the Massachusetts 4-H community by investing directly in the creativity and capacity of our clubs, fairs, and advisory councils,” said Robert Kordenbrock, executive director of the Massachusetts 4-H Foundation. “This year, we’re proud to distribute $35,000 to 18 recipients across the Commonwealth — each grant representing a powerful vision for youth development. These grants are not just financial support; they are votes of confidence in the next generation of leaders made possible thanks to the generosity of donors who believe in and support 4-H, and we are deeply grateful for their continued partnership.”
The Massachusetts 4-H Foundation launched its BOOST grant program in 2024. This year, 18 4-H entities, including 4-H clubs, advisories and fairs, were awarded grants totaling $35,000 in the areas of general operating, capacity building, and community outreach.
