WASHINGTON – As Medicare and Medicaid programs continue to provide financial support for those in need, the Administration in Washington is cutting programs, not improving on them. That assessment comes from Congressman Pat Ryan (D, NY-18).

Ryan said the program that is over six decades old, is suffering from actions by the Trump White House.

“Take a program like Medicare and Medicaid that has been effective and proper and that folks want more of it, and on the 61st anniversary instead the administration is cutting a trillion dollars from it, and by the way, what are they doing with that trillion dollars? They are quite literally giving that trillion dollars in tax breaks to the top one percent of earners,” said. “Sol, I think it’s a deeply wrong and un-American thing to take healthcare from people who need it to pay for tax breaks for the ultra-rich.”

Ryan says he is pushing to restore program cuts.

On top of this comes a new revelation that Medicare Part D, which helps pay for prescription drugs, may not be renewed when it expires at the end of the year.
