An illegal immigrant from Guatemala wanted on several sex crimes in Massachusetts, including rape and indecent exposure charges, has been arrested in Billerica by ICE.

ICE Boston says Rocael Ordonez-Cruz, 23, was apprehended last week after he was arrested by Arlington Police on numerous sex crimes last month — including assault to rape, rape, indecent assault and battery on a person 14 years or older, and indecent exposure.

ICE says agents arrested Ordonez-Cruz July 21 at the Middlesex County House of Correction after he was released from state custody.

He was served with a notice to appear before a Justice Department immigration judge before being taken into custody at ERO Boston headquarters in Burlington.

“Rocael Ordonez-Cruz has not only displayed a blatant disregard for our laws by illegally entering the United States and later allegedly sexually assaulting our residents, he has also proven to be a threat to our neighborhoods,” Acting Director of ERO Boston David Wesling told the Herald. “The arrest of this alleged sex offender from the streets of Massachusetts shows our officers’ dedication to the safety and security of our New England communities. We will not stop finding and arresting dangerous criminal alien offenders.”

ICE says it’s not clear when or where Ordonez-Cruz illegally entered the country without being inspected, admitted or paroled by a U.S. immigration official.

He will remain in ICE custody pending the outcome of his removal proceedings.
