HUDSON VALLEY – This latest storm could dump up to six to eight inches of rain on the Catskills by the time it is over Wednesday morning.
The Mid-Hudson Valley region will have a 40 to 70 percent chance of flash flooding.
“New York State will be experiencing a prolonged rain event beginning Tuesday that will bring heavy rains and cause flash flooding,” said Governor Hochul. “New Yorkers should stay vigilant, stay informed, and use caution.”
Before and during the storm, officials advise people not to walk, swim or drive through floodwater. One foot of moving water can sweep a vehicle away.
Officials say you should know your evacuation route and how to get to higher ground.
Check in with elderly neighbors or those who may have mobility issues.
Don’t touch downed power lines, keep your phone charged, and keep a small disaster supply kit in the trunk of your car.
