FITCHBURG — Fitchburg East Rotary member Anny Namazzi is proud to be helping coordinate an international project that the local club is organizing. The Lowell resident, who used to work in Leominster, is part of the team organizing the drilling of several water wells in Mengo, Uganda. The Fitchburg East Rotary’s sister club — Rotary Club of Mengo — is working with them and Namazzi on the project for the area villages, considering many of the villagers have to walk miles to get clean, fresh water.
In other Fitchburg East Rotary news, new co-presidents Meghan Driscoll and Ray Mahan were recently installed, replacing Bob Campbell and Sabrina Kublbeck. In addition, the club’s annual sponsor a flower box initiative is currently underway, and locals are invited to participate.

Fitchburg East Rotary recently installed two new co-presidents. From left, Co-presidents Ray Mahan and Meghan Driscoll, Rotary District 7910 Assistant Governor Karen Fusco, and outgoing co-presidents Bob Campbell and Sabrina Kublbeck. Each year, Fitchburg East Rotary partners with volunteers, local businesses, and community members to plant and maintain flower boxes throughout the city’s downtown area. The cheerful displays help create a welcoming atmosphere for residents and visitors and for $200, people can sponsor a flower box for the season and show their support for the community.
“Whether you’re a local business, organization, family, or individual, we’d love to have you be part of this project!” Fitchburg East Rotary recently posted on social media. “Thank you for helping us make Fitchburg bloom!”
Sponsorship helps cover the cost of flowers, soil, supplies, and ongoing maintenance and includes a plaque recognizing the sponsorship that the donor can help design. For more information message the Fitchburg East Rotary Facebook page or email [email protected].
