LIVINGSTON MANOR – Strong thunderstorms ripped through northern Sullivan County Saturday evening knocking out power to many areas. Electricity was still out in the Livingston Manor area at mid-morning on Sunday.
The storms hit the Liberty, Livingston Manor and Roscoe areas at around 6:45 p.m. with torrential rain, strong winds and lightning.
Trees, utility poles and power lines were downed, blocking several roads. The hamlet of Livingston Manor lost all power.
There were unconfirmed reports that a tornado touched down.
New York State Electric and Gas crews were dispatched to remove trees from the roads and restore power.
