TOWNSEND — The Townsend Military Band will present an evening of music from the Stage and Screen during its Thursday, July 23, concert on the Townsend Common. The performance is sponsored by the Amanda E. Dwight Entertainment Fund.

The concert will be accompanied by a lawn party hosted by the Townsend Historical Society. Concertgoers can purchase hamburgers, hot dogs, popcorn, chips and cold beverages, while children and families can enjoy games set up on the Common. Several antique cars are also expected to be on display near the Common during the evening.

Under the direction of conductor Thomas Souza, the Townsend Military Band will perform from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m.

The band plans to continue its Thursday evening concert series on the Townsend Common through at least Aug. 13, weather permitting.

“At this time, no local organization has signed up to host the lawn party during the August 13 concert,” said Betty Mae Tenney, Band Concert coordinator. “Organizations interested in sponsoring that evening’s lawn party are encouraged to contact me as soon as possible.”

Tenney can be reached by phone at 978-597-6495 or by e-mail at [email protected].
