FITCHBURG — The CEMBLEC Crash Reconstruction team and the Fitchburg Police Department are looking into a fatal accident involving a motorcycle on Ashby State Road over the weekend.
At approximately 3:29 p.m. on Saturday, the Fitchburg Police Department and the Fitchburg Fire Department responded to Ashby State Road for a report of a motor vehicle crash that involved a motorcycle. The operator of the motorcycle, a 44-year-old male Fitchburg resident, was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased a short time later.
The July 11 incident is being investigated by the Fitchburg Police Department in conjunction with the Central Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council (CEMLEC) Crash Reconstruction Team.
Fitchburg Police Capt. Jeffrey J. Howe, operations commander, said a car was involved in the accident but he could not release the name of the operator of the motorcycle. In accidents involving fatalities, the Worcester County District Attorney is responsible for releasing the identity of the deceased. As the accident is still under investigation, Howe said no fault has been determined yet and no more information was being released at this time.
