PLEASANT VALLEY – A body was discovered in the Wappinger Creek in Pleasant Valley on Sunday, drawing a large turnout of police, fire, and EMS personnel. The body was discovered just below the mill dam in the center of town, near the Mill Site Museum and Park on Main Street (Route 44) near South Avenue.
The State Police relieved the Pleasant Valley Fire Department from the area and began establishing the boundaries of a potential crime scene.
Personnel from the Dutchess County Medical Examiner’s Office responded and staged alongside the Mill Park until the body was ready to be recovered.
A source familiar with the scene told Mid-Hudson News that the body had possibly been in or near the creek for three to four days prior to being discovered.
