KINGSTON- The City of Kingston is seeking residents to serve on a Project Advisory Committee that will help guide a yearlong citywide parking study scheduled to begin this month.

Mayor Steven Noble announced that applications are now open for the committee, which will work with consulting firm Stantec as it evaluates parking conditions and develops recommendations for improving parking throughout the city.  Residents are encouraged to apply by July 24.

The advisory committee is expected to meet six times over the course of the study through a combination of in-person and virtual meetings.

The study will begin with an assessment of existing parking conditions, followed by parking occupancy surveys in the fall. The first public meeting is expected in October, with additional stakeholder meetings, surveys and public outreach planned throughout the process.  Final recommendations are anticipated in late spring 2027.

The parking study stems from work begun by the city’s Parking Task Force, which was formed in 2023 to identify parking concerns and develop a request for proposals.  In 2025, the city received a $100,000 grant from the Mid-Hudson Regional Economic Development Council to support the project.

Applications for the advisory committee and additional information about the study are available on the city’s .
