LEOMINSTER — Leominster TV Executive Director Scott Kurland was recently welcomed as the newest member of the Rotary Club of Leominster.
Kurland follows in his father’s footsteps as a Rotarian and was installed by Assistant District Governor of Rotary District 7910 Jim Fusco and his sponsor is Frank Ardinger, secretary and longtime member of the Rotary Club of Leominster.
Kurland began his career in television production at age 13, working as a production assistant/gopher for Chelmsford Telemedia in 1999. He attended film school at Fitchburg State University, majoring in communications media with a concentration in film and video production, and his resume includes work at “The Daily Show” in New York City.
In 2010, Kurland left the Big Apple and network television to return to where he got his start — community access television. For the last decade he has worked for various stations across the state including WCAT in Wakefield, WCTV in Wilmington, and most recently, APAC in Ayer, and he joined LTV as its executive director in February 2023.
The Rotary Club of Leominster observed its 100th anniversary in 2025 and is very active in the local and greater community. To recognize the anniversary, many of the club’s 21 current members participated in an event back in February during which 50,000 Meals for Hope were packed in one day at Leominster City Hall.
One of the club’s signature events is the American BBQ booth during the annual Johnny Appleseed Festival in September.
“The proceeds are used to fund an emergency winter fuel assistance program,” Ardinger relayed about where the funds raised through the booth go. “In partnership with Fraticelli Oil and Propane, we allocate up to $ 4,000 to provide up to 100 gallons of oil to aid a family in need of immediate delivery.”
In addition, the Rotary Club of Leominster partners with the Rotary Club of Fitchburg, and sponsors the yearly Breakfast for the Bands fundraiser. Last year they gave bands from Leominster and Fitchburg high schools over $9,000 each.
