NEWBURGH – If you are on Broadway in the City of Newburgh this summer, chances are you will run into a police officer on a bike.
Police Chief Brandon Rola said after losing officers to retirement or promotions, he has restaffed the unit.
“In the last month, we were able to get all the bikes serviced as well as get five new officers certified and a sergeant to oversee the unit,” he said. Since then, we have been able to accomplish several bike details throughout the city, and we plan on maintaining that throughout the summer and into the fall.”
The chief said he has also implemented foot patrols in areas of the city.
