PEEKSKILL – Firefighters from throughout Putnam and northern Westchester battled a blaze in Peekskill late Monday night that destroyed two garages and a vehicle located on the 500 block of Dyckman Street.
Peekskill firefighters responded to the initial alarm and found a detached garage fully engulfed in flames, with the fire beginning to spread to a second garage and a vehicle.
A general alarm brought additional resources into the city as Peekskill crews stretched hoses to extinguish the fire and protect nearby buildings.
The blaze was extinguished about 30 minutes later, after the first garage collapsed.
Crews spent the next several hours overhauling the debris to ensure the fire was fully extinguished.
The fire was ruled accidental. No injuries were reported, and all units returned to service by 2 a.m. Tuesday.
