ALBANY – State Senator Rob Rolison (R, Poughkeepsie) wants to know about concerns dealing with the state’s Domestic Violence Hotline. A state comptroller’s audit found “disturbing data” that many calls and texts went unanswered and messages were mistranslated, said Rolison.

The lawmaker says his colleagues in Albany would like to know the reasons for the issues.

“We are going to be reaching out to the Office of Prevention of Domestic Violence and ask what is going on and what needs to be done,” he said. “If there isn’t enough staffing, is it a software or telephone issue; what exactly is the reason and let’s get it addressed to make sure that people know that when they call for help that phone is going to be answered.”

Rolison is ranking member of the Senate Crime Victims, Crime and Correction Committee, and he will be contacting the appropriate agencies to ensure the failures are addressed quickly.
