POUGHKEEPSIE – The First Friday celebrations in Poughkeepsie officially returned on July 3, despite a sweltering heatwave.  Performers, vendors, and several heat-immune community members gathered on Main Street near Mural Square Park to welcome the monthly festivals back to the city.

The monthly festivals, celebrating the food and entertainment of Poughkeepsie, were very popular prior to the pandemic, and a group of local business leaders, with support from City Hall, are trying to revive the gatherings.

Friday’s event was scheduled from 6 to 9 pm on Main Street, between Market and Academy Streets.
