LIBERTY- Members of Liberty High School’s Class of 2026 were celebrated for their academic achievements, community service, leadership, and extracurricular accomplishments during the school’s annual Senior Assembly Program.

The event, a longstanding tradition at Liberty High School, brought together students, families, faculty, and community members to recognize graduating seniors with dozens of scholarships and awards presented by local organizations, memorial funds, civic groups, and school departments.

Principal Stephen Matuszak opened the ceremony before students were honored for excellence in academics, music, athletics, citizenship, volunteerism, and leadership.  Community organizations from across Sullivan County contributed scholarships, highlighting the strong support local groups continue to provide Liberty students as they prepare for college, careers, and military service.

A highlight of the evening was the recognition of the Class of 2026’s top academic performers.  The school also honored its valedictorian and salutatorian, along with the remaining members of the top 10 students in the graduating class.

In a symbolic passing of the torch, seniors handed leadership gavels and school spirit honors to members of the junior class, officially transferring key student leadership roles to the Class of 2027.

The ceremony also included special presentations from the senior class to faculty, staff, and administrators who made a lasting impact on their high school experience.

The evening concluded with a slideshow reflecting on the Class of 2026’s journey through Liberty High School.

The next time the seniors don their caps and gowns will be for commencement exercises, scheduled for 7 p.m. June 26 in the Liberty High School gymnasium.
