LEOMINSTER — For 25 years, Project Apples’ ParentChild+ Program has helped local families build strong foundations for literacy and school success, and the community is invited to celebrate the milestone at a special anniversary event.
The free celebration will take place at 6 p.m. on Thursday, June 25, at Leominster City Hall, 25 West St.
“The family-friendly event will feature music, crafts, ice cream, door prizes and activities for children, while highlighting the program’s impact on generations of Leominster families,” said Lisa Novelli, Project Apples/Leominster ParentChild+ coordinator.
Formerly known as the Parent Child Home Program, ParentChild+ connects trained Early Learning Specialists with families of young children through weekly home visits.
Specialists provide books, puzzles and educational toys designed to encourage early literacy, language development and school readiness.
Funded through the Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care and supported by the Leominster Public Schools, the program has served hundreds of families since its launch. Many former participants are now young adults, a testament to the program’s long-standing presence in the community.
“We are also seeking stories, memories and updates from former participants and their families to include in a commemorative slideshow,” Novelli said.
Those interested in sharing memories may contact program coordinator Lisa Novelli at [email protected].
The anniversary celebration is open to the public, and organizers hope to welcome both past and future families as they mark a quarter-century of promoting early learning in Leominster.
