PEPPERELL — The Pepperell 250th Committee dedicated a new community bench area during a ribbon-cutting ceremony held on Sunday, June 14, on the common.
The event featured remarks from members of the Pepperell 250th Committee, Selectman Mark Mathews and a representative from the office of state Rep. Margaret Scarsdale, D-Pepperell.
Community members gathered to celebrate the completion of the project, which was created as a lasting tribute to Pepperell’s 250th anniversary.
The key to the town was given to the entire Pepperell 250th Committee, including Sharon Tetreault, Wendy Cummings, Kenny English Jr., Thomas Hawkins, Stephen Themelis, Bob Poulin, Sandy Herman, Steven Temple, Marguerite Talbot, Don Shattuck and Caitlyne Herman for their work in planning for the Pepperell 250th benches and the ceremony.
Funding for the bench area was provided through sales of the Pepperell 250th commemorative coin.
The project began in early 2025 as part of the town’s Semiquincentennial celebrations and has now become a permanent addition to the community.
The newly completed bench area serves as a commemorative space for residents and visitors to enjoy while reflecting on Pepperell’s rich history and milestone anniversary.
