STERLING — A special event being held in town this weekend will celebrate the country’s birthday.

Sterling Salutes America 250 will run all day on Saturday, June 20, and several businesses and entities are participating and offering specials.

Emma’s Café is cooking up a nostalgic American dessert and D & D Liquidators and NoTown Goods are both having sidewalk sales. All three are located on Main Street and NoTown Goods owner Leanne Boudreau is offering 10% off her Americana-themed display and patriotic-inspired merchandise and giving away complimentary mini-American flags with a purchase on Saturday, while supplies last.

Joshua Halterman of Sterling & Maple Home and Joshua Allen Design is spearheading the event with help from others including fellow town resident Jane Morgan, who runs the Sterling Street Market. Halterman will have a lemonade stand set up in front of his 40 Main St. home boutique located just across from the town common along with deals and savings and a summer raffle basket.

The Sterling Street Market will be running at its usual time from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the town common, and Morgan is encouraging vendors and anyone attending the weekend event to show their pride by wearing red, white and blue. The white fence that encloses the common will be decorated with U.S. flags and there will be Sterling Salutes America 250 stickers for sale.

Morgan posted on social media that there will be over 60 local vendors “offering a wide variety of goodies including hand-crafted everything, delicious food and collectibles,” with many of them “participating with sales and patriotic products.”

“We hope you will come and celebrate America with us!”
