Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Summer officially arrives on June 21. That’s three days away if you are counting.  And besides being the longest day of the year, summer means vacations, relaxation and learning new things.

Summer classes are underway at Hanover Theatre and Conservatory in Worcester but there is still time to register for theater, dance, puppetry and music classes. Visit https://thehanovertheatre.org/classes for info and to register.

Also, Groton Hill Music School, formerly Indian Hill Music, has all manner of private and group classes, plus ensembles and more for serious and casual learners.  Also check out their concert offerings at https://grotonhill.org.

Check local art centers, theatre companies and other venues’ websites for lessons and enrichment opportunities.

IN THE WINGS

SUMMER AT PETERBOROUGH PLAYERS — Another sure sign of summer is the opening of the season at the Peterborough Players, of Peterborough, N.H., and that happened yesterday with “Baskerville,” which plays through June 28. Here’s the write-up: “Get your deerstalker cap on — the play’s afoot! Comedic genius Ken Ludwig (“Lend Me a Tenor,” “Moon Over Buffalo”) transforms Arthur Conan Doyle’s classic “The Hound of the Baskervilles” into a murderously funny adventure. Sherlock Holmes is on the case. The male heirs of the Baskerville line are being dispatched one by one. To find their ingenious killer, Holmes and Watson must brave the desolate moors before a family curse dooms its newest heir. Watch as our intrepid investigators try to escape a dizzying web of clues, silly accents, disguises and deceit as five actors deftly portray more than 40 characters. Does a wild hellhound prowl the moors of Devonshire? Can our heroes discover the truth in time? Join the fun and see how far from elementary the truth can be.’’ Visit https://tinyurl.com/42hbrwje for the full season schedule and more info.

EUREKA DAY AT HUNTINGTON — Continuing through June 28 is “Eureka Day” at the Huntington Theater in Boston. Hot off stellar London and Broadway runs, the new satire is on the pulse as it asks if parents at a progressive and welcoming private school can uphold their harmonious shared values when they are faced with an outbreak of the mumps.
