NEW ROCHELLE – A man who took off with his 12-year-old son in New Rochelle in March 2025, has been arrested and charged with a violation of the Family Court Act and criminal contempt.

The boy’s mother holds full custody of the child, who was reported missing over a year ago.

Following an investigation, New Rochelle Police located and arrested the boy’s father, 54-year-old Dwight Richards, in the Bronx.

The missing boy was not present during the arrest; he was returned by his father.

New Rochelle Police were assisted in the investigation by the Westchester County District Attorney’s Office and other law enforcement partners.
