FITCHBURG — On Friday afternoon, Fitchburg Fire Department’s Group 1 companies were dispatched for the report of a possible residential building fire in the Bemis Road area, where they extinguished a fire at house that was heavily ingulfed in fire.
First arriving crews reported a large amount of heavy fire showing from the front and side of the building. Crews immediately deployed multiple attack lines, established a water supply, and gained access to the roof via aerial ladder.
The fire was quickly knocked down by firefighters before overhaul operations were conducted.
The fire caused extensive damage to the main residence as well as siding on an adjacent exposure. The incident went to a working fire until it was finally completely extinguished.
No injuries were reported. Six residents were displaced from their home, due to the damage caused by the fire, though, Fire Department officials said.
The Fitchburg Fire Department officials said they “would like to thank our neighboring communities for their assistance during the incident on scene and with city coverage.”
