LANCASTER — Thayer Memorial Library will host “From Just a Snapshot to Art: Creating Beautiful Photographs” with professional photographer Joanne Pearson at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 13, at the library, at 717 Main St.
Pearson, owner of Fair Haven Photographs, has worked as a professional photographer for more than 25 years. Before launching her photography career, she was a registered landscape architect practicing in Massachusetts for 12 years. She photographs architecture, interiors and lifestyle for the hospitality industry and for architects and builders throughout the Northeast. Her photographs of gardens, landscapes and people have appeared in magazines, books and calendars.
During the presentation, Pearson will share techniques professional photographers use to create stronger images, including framing, composition, balance, leading lines, depth of field and the effective use of natural light. She will also discuss what photographers call “getting it right in-camera” — capturing images with a clear vision of the story they are meant to tell.
Designed for photographers of all experience levels and all types of cameras, the program will offer practical tips for turning ordinary snapshots into compelling photographs.
The program is free and open to the public. For more information or to register, visit thayermemoriallibrary.org. To learn more about Pearson’s work and see some of her photography visit her website, joannepearson.com.
