On the night Yu finished sharing the previous account, Ariel had a strange nightmare. She dreamed that, in a pitch-black night where nothing could be seen, a group of Gypsies were attacking a group of cultivators, and she herself was among those cultivators.
Just as the crowd surged toward Ariel like a rising tide, she awoke. She never learned what became of herself or the other cultivators in the dream.
Yu Menglong explained that the dream was actually a fragment of Ariel's past-life memories. He then shared another chapter of Romani (Gypsy) history connected to it.
The Monk of the Dragon Clan
Having lost their faith, the ancestors of the Romani people continued to struggle with poverty and disease, much as they had during their time in northwestern India.
Theft soon became widespread in local communities, and among those arrested for stealing, a considerable number were Romani.
At that time, there was a Catholic monk in the prisons who secretly adhered to Ancient polytheism. His responsibility was to guide thieves and other criminals toward repentance and moral reform.
