Local musician brings music, community spirit to farmers markets

WINCHENDON — For Winchendon musician Bob Jordan, farmers markets are about much more than fresh vegetables and local goods — they are gathering places filled with music, conversation and community spirit.

This spring, Jordan returns for another busy season of performances at farmers markets throughout North Central Massachusetts and Southern New Hampshire, bringing what he calls his “big bag of songs” to more than 40 free performances during the 2026 season.

Known as the self-appointed “Marquis of the Farmer’s Markets,” Jordan kicked off the 2026 season earlier this month in Holden and continues to provide weekly music every Tuesday through October at the Holden Farmers Market.

Jordan also opened the Orange Farmers Market on May 14 at Butterfield Park. He is scheduled to return for additional monthly performances on June 25, July 30, Aug. 20 and Sept. 10, at 3 p.m.

Jordan’s other farmers market and community performance schedule includes appearances throughout the region include:

• Fitchburg Art Museum: at 9:30 a.m. Aug. 6;

• Leominster: at 2 p.m. July 6;

• Westminster: at 10 a.m. Aug. 14 in,

• Other Massachusetts shows: Grafton: at 3 p.m. Sept. 16; and in Barre: from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on June 13, Aug. 22, Sept. 12 and Oct. 10;

•  New Hampshire shows: Winchester, N.H.: at 10 a.m. on May 30, June 27, Aug. 29 and Sept. 19.; in Milford, N.H.: at 10 a.m. on June 20, Aug. 15, and Oct. 3.; and in Keene, N.H.: at 10 a.m. on June 6 and Sept. 26, in Keene, N.H..

Jordan will also host and perform at the third annual Hometown Heroes/Local Legends Concert at 2:30 p.m. on Aug. 9, in Mill Villages Park, South Grafton.

“I am fortunate to be able to play music outside for people of all ages,” Jordan said. “I especially enjoy seeing children experience live music. It’s rewarding to watch people sing along or move to the music, and I am always grateful for the support people show during my performances.”
