Samantha Busch, widow of late NASCAR driver Kyle Busch, previously revealed that she would want to have another baby and name it after him in the event of his death.

The two-time NASCAR champion died unexpectedly at the age of 41 on Thursday, a day after passing out in a Chevrolet simulator. A 911 call made Wednesday indicated that Busch complained of overheating, experienced shortness of breath and spat up blood while training for Sunday’s Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

The speedster was subsequently pronounced dead at a hospital in Charlotte, leaving behind his wife, and their two children, 11-year-old Brexton and 4-year-old Lennix. They were both born via IVF, and the couple also established the Bundle of Joy Fund together, which helps other families access similar IVF treatments

During a November 2025 episode of her podcast “Certified Oversharer,” Samantha opened up with her guest Ashley George about a recent conversation she had with her husband about the frozen embryos they still had stored.

“Here’s something I’ve never told anybody,” Samantha told George last year. “I’m a certified oversharer. So a lot of people ask me what we have done with our embryos because we still have some.”

She continued: “I can’t part with them. We are paying to freeze them until… they’re going to have to come with me. I don’t know what else to do at this point because I love them so much and can’t make a decision.”

The couple’s first child was born via IVF in 2015 and they welcomed a second in 2022.

“Kyle was like, ‘We’re done having kids,’ and I said, ‘But what if?’” Samantha added. “I told him the most morbid story the other day. I was like, ‘What if you passed? I would have to have another kid to be connected to you and name that child after you.’”

Samantha and her two children were all in attendance at the Coca-Cola 600 on Sunday for what would have been her husband’s next race. NASCAR took a moment to honor Busch, and gave a special shoutout to the family.

“Samantha, I want you to know that this sport stands with you, and that you and your children are NASCAR family forever,” NASCAR CEO Steve O’Donnell said. “Brexton and Lennix, your dad loves you with all his heart.”
