US Secretary of State Marco Rubio during his India visit’s second day, addressed the media sharing a dais with Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar – depicting how Iran has been historically sponsoring proxy-terrorism and reminding against “what” the US is fighting for.
“Iran will never possess a nuclear weapon, certainly not as long as Donald Trump is President of the United States,” said Rubio while addressing the media in New Delhi.
“Iran is threatening to destroy commercial vessels using an international waterway. If we allowed that to become normal, we’d be normalizing an unacceptable status quo and setting a dangerous precedent that can be replicated in this region and around the world,” he said.
“The idea that the President is going to agree to a deal that puts Iran in a stronger position on nuclear ambitions is ABSURD. That’s just not going to happen,” Rubio added.
“There is no one who has been tougher on the issue of Iran’s nuclear ambitions than PRESIDENT TRUMP,” he said. “Multiple political leaders have said Iran cannot have nuclear weapons, but the only one who has done something about it in a real way is President Trump.”
He continued, “When this conflict began with Iran, the goals were outlined:
- Destroy their navy
- Reduce their ability to launch ballistic missiles
- Damage their defense industrial base
Those objectives were achieved.”
“The President wants the world to be in a place where it no longer has to fear or worry about an Iranian nuclear weapon. There has been some good news made on that front. Iran has spent millions of dollars sponsoring terrorism all over the world, not improving the life of their people,” Rubio told the media.
“That’s why their people are always in the street protesting. Their economy is in shambles because the regime doesn’t invest in their economy. Iran would rather invest in the rapists and murderers of Hamas than their own people, he said. “The BBC and these other media outlets should be covering how evil these people are in Iran and the damage they’ve done to people all over the world.”
“Iran sponsors proxy groups of terrorists that don’t care what they blow up,” he added. “This is an Iran that blew up a Jewish center in Argentina, innovated the use of roadside bombs that killed Americans, and organized assassinations of people who don’t agree with them.”
