BREWSTER- When visiting Tilly Foster Farm in Southeast and learning about a newborn calf seeking a name, five-year-old Liam Lopez decided to participate in the community naming competition.
Liam, a kindergartner at Lakeview Elementary School in Mahopac, submitted the name Oreo, which was chosen as the winner.
The adorable Holstein/Scottish Highland heifer was born in February and elementary school students were invited to submit name ideas for the calf.
Liam’s teacher Shannon O’Shea was thrilled: “Our class had the opportunity to tour the farm, pet the animals and meet Oreo. The students had an amazing time and it truly was a core memory and such a special experience for our class to be part of,” she said.
